On September 21 each year, the United Nations celebrates the International Day of Peace, with the aim of reinforcing the ideals of world peace. This year the theme is: “Action for Peace: Our Ambitions for the Global Goals”, a call to action to recognize everyone’s responsibility in promoting peace.
The International Day of Peace also seeks to encourage young people to commit to peace and join the movement to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals defined by the UN. Indeed, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aim to bring our societies closer to greater peace, justice and inclusion, by eliminating fear and violence. However, without the participation and contribution of a wide range of actors, including the 1.2 billion young people present, these objectives will remain, according to the UN, unattainable.
