February 11 is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science in recognition of the key role that women play in the scientific and technological community.
Women scientists must be supported as well as the access of women and girls to education, training and research in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics must be promoted.
Gender equality has always been a central topic of the United Nations. Gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls will contribute decisively not only to the economic development of the world, but also to progress towards all the goals and targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
