The International Peace and Cooperation Foundation chaired by the Hon. Mrs. Rosa Olazábal organized on March 30th, at the Nuestra Señora de la Concepción Basilica in Madrid, the celebration of a Funeral Mass for the third anniversary of the death of its founder and president Joaquín Antuña, a religious event to which attended the Hon. Mr. Ambassador of Azerbaijan in Spain, Mr. Ramiz Hasanov and the Hon. Mr. Ambassador of Spain Mr. Arturo Pérez Martínez, accompanied by his wife Mrs. Kayoko Takagi.
The religious act welcomed various friends of the late Joaquín Antuña, among whom were foreign diplomatic officials accredited in Spain such as Mr. Khaldun Almassri, first secretary of the State of Palestine, as well as writers, painters, intellectuals, university professors, doctors, radio and television journalists, and a large number of personalities from Madrid’s social life.
Joaquín Antuña was born on March 10, 1937, and died on March 30, 2020. He was a passionate and devoted institutional leader. His idea was to unite the concepts of disarmament and development, that is, to oppose the culture of peace to the culture of violence. He loved to see the excitement of people who wanted to transform the world. He personally knew great figures such as Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Winnie Mandela, Nelson Mandela, Miguel Ángel Asturias, Aurelio Peccei, founder of the Club of Rome, among other personalities.
